Elvis Presley Biopic hits the big screen. #elvis, #movie, Elvis Presley, at the height of his fame, was arguably one of the world’s greatest entertainers. Like many great talented artists Elvis was exploited and robbed of personal happiness and greater generational wealth. White privilege did not protect him from the old white men of privilege who had more political power. His vocal stylings, music and his awesome dance moves were influenced by African American culture which is truly homaged in the Elvis movie and was captured in real time as evidenced in the news headlines of the time period.
Director Baz Luhrmann did a wonderful job keeping the attention of a fast paced social media oriented movie audience for more than two and one half hours. Very few cell phone violators were spotted.
The music and dance choreography was superior to many other biopics.
Austin Butler is awesome as Elvis Aaron Presley. You believe him and empathize.Tom Hanks is awesome as the Colonel Tom Parker. You despise him.
Kudos always to Priscilla Presley. Mothers never get enough credit. Priscilla appears to have raised her child to have a moral compass in a world where mores are challenged constantly.
